State Meet Results: Jasmine and Lexi = AWESOME!!

What a great weekend to be a Panther!! Congratulations to Jasmine and Lexi for making the most of their trip to the State CC Meet. The course at Oak Hills is no walk in the park, and Jasmine and Lexi ran very smart races Saturday. It is difficult to run your own race when the leader of the race is out to break the course record; which Eureka's Hanna Long did in 17:46. The first mile was blistering fast and Jasmine and Lexi easily ran their fastest 1st mile to date with Jasmine coming through at 5:54, and Lexi coming through at 5:59. That mile includes the uphill 400+meter start! Mile two really saw the race start to spread out as the runners made their way through the switchbacks and to the Firehouse Hill in mile three. Jasmine and Lexi did an excellent job to maintain focus and run their strongest races of the season. I'd say this course easily runs 30+ seconds slower than Ray Pec, but when you're running with the best of the best, anything can happen.

Jasmine and Lexi both ran much better races than they did at Sectionals with Jasmine finishing 6th from our Sectional (up from 18th at the Sectional race) and Lexi finishing 17th from our Sectional (up from 19th at the Sectional race). At the finish, Jasmine was the 2nd fastest freshmen and Lexi was the 13th fastest freshmen. Overall, Jasmine finished 18th with a PR of 19:11.83 and Lexi finished 65th with a 20:21.51!! These are AMAZING TIMES!!! Special congratulations go to Jasmine for finishing 18th, which makes her All-State!!! This is Park Hill South's first Girl's All State Cross Country runner since we've been in Class 4!!

Thank you to all those who came to support- especially the Crawford and Maddox families, Nicole and Julie G., our 12 CC boys who road tripped to the race, and CC alums Amy, Evan and Dana Willsey. Thanks also to Madi B and Charlie for coming along to help keep Jasmine and Lexi relaxed and ready race! Two get Through to State!

Jasmine taking an early charge.

Lexi looking effortless and strong.

Saturday morning proved to be all that we expected it to be, with times faster than any other meet held at Ray Pec this year. The 30th place time was 20:00:03 (a 6:26 mile pace)! I feel really proud of our entire team and the guts they showed making it to Sectionals. I also feel really proud of our District as we are sending 14 of the top 30 qualifiers from our District meet. That just goes to show how fast our girls have been running, competing and beating the best of the best!
Congratulations again to our Sectional Qualifiers Jasmine, Lexi, Erin, Erica, Madi, Riley and Griffin.

We are so happy to send Jasmine and Lexi to State this year! They are 2 of the 7 freshman who qualified out of our Sectional. Qualifying for State is an awesome feat, but it is even more amazing to qualify out of our Sectional in the top 20!!! Best of Luck at State, Ladies!!!

Jasmine and Lexi will run at 12:35 pm on Saturday, November 9th at the Oak Hills Gold Course in Jefferson City, MO. Tucker and Gus will run at 11:30.

Girls finish 4th!!

What a great weekend to be a Panther! Both the boys and girls teams qualified for the Sectional meet this Saturday at Raymore Peculiar. This is by far the most competitive Sectional in the State and the races will not disappoint. The South District Championship was won by only a margin of 3 points by St. Theresa's Academy and the difference between 1st and 3rd was only 6 points (Lee's Summit West and Lee's Summit North). With so many great runners and only 30 spots up for grabs, Saturday's race will be fast and furious. To see the best cross country runners in the State, please attend and see for yourself just how fast the Metro area is AND how awesome it is that OUR girls are there AS A TEAM!

Jasmine - 20:06:03
